My friend mastersmith & custom knife maker Ray Kirk has hit another home run with his “Trail of Tears” fixed blade knife. Ray is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Ray forged and used steel for his knife that was obtained from a ball bearing factory in Dahlonega, Georgia, the point of departure of one of the 3 groups of Cherokees on the infamous Trail of Tears. The trail ended in near Ray’s home town of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Ray made the knife to commemorate this historical event.
Bois D Arc wood handle. Hidden tang. Inlaid shield on one side.
The blade is made from 52100 (ball bearings) stamped with “RakeR” and “MS” on one side of the blade and stamped with 3 small tears falling from the point on the other side to represent the three groups.
7″ OAL,3″ Blade.
Ray has Charlie make his brown leather sheath with black steel clip included. Charlie’s logo stamped on back of sheath.
