At the recent Antique Arms show in Las Vegas Joe Donato was selling his fine collection of knives.

FYI: The Worlds Interesting Man is boring compared to Joe Donato.

Joe Donato who lives in Vegas was at the show with his son. Every time I run into Joe  I love talking to him and listing to the tales he tells. I find out more and more about this very interesting man, such as, as a young man he also rode rodeo.

One of the most fascinating jobs Joe did was that as an honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier back in the early 1950s. One of my most prized possessions is an autographed photo of Joe guarding the Tomb.

He is one of those unique individuals I’ve had the honor to have gotten to know through collecting knives

IF WE DON’T TEACH THEM……….WHO WILL?

I know it’s not knife related but it is a powerful video. Our military is and has always been the best.  I plan on supporting The Wounded Warrior Project. I hope you will join me.

So true.

Every young person should be so lucky as to know a Veteran.
Makes tears come to my eyes everytime I see this, but love it!!

A Knife by Shosui Takeda

The third-generation master blacksmith Shosui Takeda was born and raised in Niimi, Okayama in Japan. After graduating from a university and working in Tokyo, he returned to his hometown to succeed his father as a blacksmith. Since 1985 he has strived and studied to produce the very best hand-forged blades and tools. His good old-fashioned hard work makes for one-of-a-kind knives.

What do I know about him? I am proud to have been one of his dealers for 13 years. I know Newt has a love for our military personal and looks to equip them with the absolute best knives he can make for them. This is what “he” says about his knives:

“IF YOU LOOKING FOR A COMMERCIAL OVER HYPED SO CALLED SURVIVAL TOOL YOU NEED TO LOOK SOME WHERE ELSE! WE ARE HARD-CORE PROFESSIONAL GRADE USER KNIVES

Knives for Professional Military Personnel, Law Enforcement Officers, and just damn good people”

If you have ever held a Livesay knife in your hands, you would know that they are built to last through hard ass usage. Maybe that’s why many service men heading over to Afghanistan, Iraq, and other theaters of war elect to carry a Livesay Combat Knife with them. 2 of my favorite Newt Livesay knives are his popular Air Assualt and NRGS survival neck knife.

Newt is now retired from full time knife making though still makes a knife or two now and then. But his knives are quickly selling out fast and there are fewer and fewer to be had.

NRGSCheck out the video link that shows what one can do with Newt’s NRGS survival knife.

Knife Rights

Knife Rights is an organization  which all knife collectors, knife purveyors, manufactures, makers, knife suppliers, etc.should support. Chairman Doug Ritter does a terrific job working with governments to remove their insidious knife laws. However he needs our help. Either by membership or knife donations.

Knife Rights was organized in 2006 to ensure a Sharper Future™ for owners of one of mankind’s oldest and most commonly used tools. Elsewhere in the world, many of the knives sold and used daily in the United States are illegal or severely restricted and the restrictions are growing every day. Even in the U.S., efforts to demonize knives and to place more restrictions on knives are becoming more commonplace. Without a dedicated grassroots organization to protect our knives, they are an easy target for those who seek restrictions on our freedoms.  Knife Rights is that dedicated grassroots organization.

While our knives are primarily tools, ultimately our right to own and carry these tools is enshrined in the Second Amendment. The fight to protect our knives is the Second Front in Defense of the Second Amendment™. The two pillars upon which Knife Rights stands are “Essential Tools – Essential Rights™.” We cannot retain the former without the latter.

Knife Rights is really two organizations.  Knife Rights, Inc. is the 501(c)(4) member advocacy organization which promotes pro-knife legislation and opposes anti-knife legislation. The Knife Rights Foundation, Inc., is the 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization that also pursues litigation in support of knife owner civil rights.

Knife Rights can only succeed as a grassroots organization if we build our membership, because it is the votes those members represent that politicians listen to. Become a Knife Rights member and help us build a Sharper Future™ for all Americans.
